I just wanted to share with you the awesome progress that Jane is making on the cushions for the aft cabin. It has been a very steep learning curve with the new Sailrite sewing machine, plus making thins kind of cushion for the first time. The aft cabin is a particularly difficult place to start as the shape is so complex. Not just the plan shape but the outside edges have to slope to follow the slope of the side of the boat and this varies along the whole length of the cushion.
Anyway she now has the cover for the infill test fitted. Just needs the “basting” to be added. There is a pile of fabric cut and ready to be sewn for the two main cushions which are now properly cut to size. By careful planning and being willing to stick some joints she has been able to achieve almost zero waste in the foam.
Quick preview of the infill cushion with cover on but not carefully aligned yet (will be done after “basting” which I have learned does not mean covering it with butter).
