So we have been disconnecting the old switch panel (replacement will be in a different place).

Behind it we now have full access to the steering rods so the parts that have been inaccessible for 42 years can be checked.

This will allow us to create more storage and a more spacious feel to the gallery.

In the process I found this “backing plate” (yes I have removed the nuts before taking the picture).

As this is the backing plate for a life harness attachment I’m not happy that it wasn’t whole and that a key bolt didn’t have a washer so that the nut had nearly worked through the backing plate.

I’m so relieved that we are taking the time to find and check these things. Everytime I find something like this it makes me even more determined to check everything.
