We decided that it was worth slapping on a quick coat of paint rather than wait until we do the job properly.
So a few minutes removing the chainplate extension and cutting off some loose remnants, then sand and wipe with acetone before painting.
Our plan is to paint the whole interior eventually. Think this quick fix is a big improvement already.
