Parts preparation

Rather than go to the boat last night we have been preparing some parts at home (and working out a bit better what we need at home and what at the boat).

First task was ripping a 40mm square batten diagonally in half to create two triangular sections. This is to act as a large “fillet” where we are attaching bulkheads to the deckhead). No photo.

Next was using the track saw to create 120mm wide strips of ply. This is for a better solution to holding the xps foam to the hull sides.

We used our car trailer as “bench” and a glamorous assistant to hold the ply and track.

We have got ourselves a new, small mains powered workshop wet/dry vacuum. Did a good job reducing the sawdust mess from the tracksaw.

Next I cut the 20mm FR4 for the stanchion bases. First into half with the tracksaw and then into triangles with the mitre saw.

We will round the corners with the grinder, then the top edges with the router. After that we will use the drill-press with a hole saw to make the hole for the 26mm carbon fibre stanchion base (then use this as a guide for continuing the hole vertically through the deck).

Now packing to go to Vida.
